Instead, while inspired by reality, much of what unfolds is imagined. At the start of the movie, we're told that it's "a fable from a true tragedy." Unlike the 2013 Princess Diana biopic starring Naomi Watts, as well as her depiction in Netflix's The Crown, this version does not attempt to stay in the confines of the Princess Diana true story (or at least as much as we know of it). Spencer openly admits that it contains far more fiction than fact. ![]() How much of Spencer is based on a true story? When they take that one, my dear, you understand that all you really are is currency." As with so much of the Spencer movie, you quickly realize that what you're watching is not historically accurate. In the movie, the Queen remarks, "They take a lot of photographs of you, don't they?" She goes on to explain to Diana, "The only portrait that matters is the one they put on the 10-pound note. In researching how true is Spencer, we found no evidence that this exchange between Diana (Kristen Stewart) and her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II (Stella Gonet), over breakfast in the film ever happened in real life. ![]()

I can’t help but be influenced by my work in animation. Did you pick that up when you worked at DreamWorks? ![]() There’s so much movement in your drawings. Instead, I concentrated on the line and the feel of the movement. But I tried not to get too hung up on what this little girl and this flamingo would look like. I watched a lot of ballet performances trying to find some poses from different pas de deux that would allow the characters to interact in ways that would move the story along. Yes, absolutely, even though the flamingo is at first an unwilling partner. The story comes across like a choreographed dance between the two characters. When they were learning to talk and play with language, they were coming up with all of these really funny phrases, like “fire extinguisher” was “fire stinking shirt.” And I started thinking back to when I was little, and I remembered this thing about flamingo dancing, and I thought, Oh, I want to draw a dancing flamingo. So the gist of the story is that Mercy takes a European vacation (against her will), stirs up some scary ghosts for an alpha wolf, reanimates a legendary golem, ends up in an undead crack house, and uncovers the vampire version of a mad scientist! Regardless, I'm 100% sure she's not going to be sporting a Team Edward t-shirt anytime soon. But due to an interesting turn of events towards the end, you can see her start to rethink her long-held beliefs. Other than Stefan, whom she's still pretty wary of, Mercy despises and distrusts the entire species. And the few that aren't evil seem to be fighting against their nature to stay that way. I just love the way Briggs does vampires.įor the most part, they're pretty awful creatures with very few redeemable qualities. ![]() Silence Fallen is a very vampire heavy book, so for fans of Mercy's undead Scooby Doo loving friend, this is a bit of perfect!
